UPDATING the Neighbourhood Plan to protect the parishes in the light of new legislation

The Chaldon, Caterham, and Whyteleafe Neighbourhood Implementation Group (CCWNPIG) met on Saturday 3rd June at the Westway to discuss the current Neighbourhood Plan.

It was agreed that the Plan as it stands has provided a good framework for monitoring planning development and assisting the parishes with managing applications.

However there are many changes being made in the world of planning such as the new national design guidance, the environment act, the updated NPPF which will be further changed as a result of the Levelling Up bill. And more importantly, the fact that the Tandridge Local Plan is out of date.

So, it was agreed that the CCWC Neighbourhood plan be updated to include new policies to protect the parishes. These may include policies on flooding and drainage, heritage sites, allocation of sites and spatial policy.  A policy looking at housing mix was recommended to meet local housing needs.

The local housing needs assessment has been commissioned and will report back findings in the next couple of months.

All of this work to safeguard your community needs a lot of support from you.  If you would like to volunteer to help with a working group on one of the policy areas we would love to hear from you.
